From one-size-fits-all to custom AI assistants

1. From one-size-fits-all to custom AI assistants

Great work! We've been using AI across a variety of marketing workflows. But now, we'll learn how to customize AI systems to go even further.

2. Beyond one-size-fits-all assistants

So far in this course, we've been prompting AI as a general assistant, where for a given task, we provide it clear goals, context, and limitations. This can be time consuming if we use AI for the same use-case repeatedly, and can cause misalignment when AI is applied on similar workflows across the same team. Custom assistants on the other hand, come pre-configured with instructions, knowledge, and capabilities tailored to a specific task, making them faster, and more consistent on that task.

3. Custom assistants across different AI platforms

Many AI providers come pre-configured with custom assistants, or let you configure your own. The core concept is the same across all platforms: you're creating a version of the base assistant from these systems, and giving it dedicated information or tools so that it's specialized in one task. For each provider, they are called differently: In ChatGPT, they're called Custom GPTs. Google's Gemini calls them Gems. Claude uses the term Projects. And in Microsoft Copilot, which we'll focus on today, they're called Agents. Let's first start with some pre-built custom assistants in Microsoft Copilot.

4. Custom agents in Microsoft Copilot

To find custom agents in Microsoft Copilot, simply navigate to Agents on the left-hand side, and press on All Agents. There, you'll find a myriad of different custom assistants designed for different workflows.

5. Prompt coach, writing coach, and more

For example, the Prompt Coach agent helps you improve your prompting skills, while the Writing Coach agent enhances your writing.

6. The Researcher Agent

Another great example of the custom assistant is the researcher agent that we've seen in previous videos and exercises. This assistant is specialized in access the Internet, performing deep research, and synthesizing its findings in a cohesive report.

7. Building our own custom assistants

These pre-built agents are ready to use right away, but in the next video, we'll learn how to build our own custom agents tailored to our specific marketing workflows.

8. Let's practice!

Now that you understand the difference between general assistants and custom assistants, let's put your knowledge to the test!
