Data and AI literacy
1. Data and AI literacy
Hopefully, you are hitting the answers to the exercises throughout this course. Now, there is a set of skills that can help empower and strengthen digital transformation in an organization. That skill is data and AI literacy. These two skills are empowering to the individual and powerful for an organization. Let’s jump into what these skills are and how it is empowering for the individual and how it is powerful for the organization.2. Achieving literacy
By definition, data literacy is the ability to read, work with, analyze, and communicate with data. AI literacy is the ability to interact and utilize AI tools and technology, without having to be technical. Overall, between the two of these, essentially data and AI literacy is the comfort and confidence to use data, analytics, and AI to empower yourself in your decision making. One may ask the question: who has a seat at the data and AI table? This is an interesting question with a simple yet powerful answer: everyone!3. Data and AI literacy table
That’s right, everyone has a seat the data and AI literacy table. One might ask: how can that be so? The reality is, not everyone needs to be a data scientist or able to engineer AI or machine learning. In fact, the vast majority of people won’t be the technical people who can do that. Instead, the majority of people need to have the ability to utilize these tools.4. Human element
Another way to look at it is the human element is not to be eliminated by data or AI. Instead, the human element should be combined or partnering with data and AI. Everyone brings unique experiences, thoughts, ideas, intuition. What we want to do is combine the human element with the data and AI element to drive better, more empowered individuals, organizations, and decisions. The impact of data and AI literacy for the individual and organization can be massive. Imagine a workforce that is comfortable with data and AI and is tasked with implementing new digital transformations across the organization. As data and technology are presented to them, the individuals and organization are able to adopt and adapt, also making decisions that can help the organization move forward.5. Massive potential
An example of this may hit home more. Imagine an organization invests money into the world of generative AI, an example of which is ChatGPT. As the organization invests, announces, and trains the workforce, imagine the possibilities if people are confident in their use of this tool and comfortable utilizing the results and driving decisions forward. That can open up avenues to process improvements and time efficiency and effectiveness growth. That could be very powerful for that digital transformation initiative.6. Let's practice!
