Gemini Deep Research

Welcome to Chapter 2. Now we will learn how to use AI as a research assistant thanks to Deep Research. Let's start with a scenario. It's 5:00 p.m., and you found out that you have a high-stakes meeting tomorrow morning on a topic you barely know, and you don't have time to open 50 tabs and read all night. Here, you can leverage Gemini Deep Research. Think of it as a skilled junior analyst. It creates a multi-step research plan. It reads through dense sources, including long PDFs and technical articles, analyzes the data, and writes a comprehensive, fully cited report for you. How to access it? I'm going to paste my prompt. Let's look at the structure. It follows our previous video on the need of clearly defining what we want. So, here goes the prompt: "I have a meeting with a major e-commerce company about how AI is changing e-commerce and user behavior. Please conduct deep research for a strategic meeting on AI's impact on e-commerce and consumer behavior." And here I want Deep Research to cover core AI applications, consumer behavior, behavior shifts, generative AI disruption, and strategic outlook. I also want a synthesis of key findings and case studies. Once you paste it, Deep Research will present a plan which we can edit, and later on, we can start the research. It usually takes a couple of minutes. So we'll just speed it up. We received a multiple-page report with links to the sources. If we like the report, we can share it, or we can export it to Google Docs and edit it. We can see the report in Docs. It has actually quite a nice structure. This research assistant saves me hours each month. The question is: how else can Deep Research help us? Let's say you need to do an external client presentation and you already have the data, but they're spread all over Gmail, Chat, and Drive, and you don't know where exactly they are. Here, you can use Deep Research to analyze and synthesize key information about a given topic based on your files and data. Just type what you're searching for and, while selecting Gemini Deep Research, select Gmail Drive and Chat and unselect Search. You can also upload dense documents and reports that Deep Research could later analyze. It will prepare a plan, find relevant information and documents, and create a report just like we did previously, but based on your files and conversations. For the sake of time, I won't run this demo since the output will be structured just as the previous one. Now, give it a try. Test it on your work research task. And a final note: while it can be super helpful, it is still an AI. Before you present findings to your manager or client, always verify sources. Trust, but verify. See you in the next video.3. Let's practice!
