Introduction to cloud computing models and shared responsibility
1. Introduction to cloud computing models and shared responsibility
When moving to the cloud, there are decisions to make about how to manage and operate different cloud services. One of those decisions is around the type of cloud computing service model to use. Organizations typically choose service model types based on their specific business requirements. In this section of the course, you’ll explore three main cloud computing service models: IaaS, or Infrastructure as a Service; PaaS, or Platform as a Service; and SaaS, or Software as a Service. Because the levels of responsibility between an organization and their cloud service provider vary depending on which model is used, you’ll also examine the shared responsibility model between Google Cloud and its customers. By the end of this section, you’ll be able to: define IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS; compare and contrast the benefits and tradeoffs of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS; determine which computing model applies to various business scenarios and use cases; describe the cloud shared responsibility model; and identify which responsibilities belong to the cloud provider and which belong to the customer for on-premises and cloud computing models.2.
