Sharing dashboards - mobile and exports

1. Sharing dashboards - mobile and exports

Great job on presenting your insights! One thing to keep in mind is that your stakeholders won't always have access to the Tableau software to look at your reports, or will not have a computer or Internet connection. That's perfectly fine: reports can also be shared to the Tableau mobile app, and exported to different formats.

2. Optimizing for mobile

Let's focus on mobile usage first. If your users are going to look at your visualizations on mobile devices, then the visualizations should be optimized for this format: a small screen increases the requirements for readability and clarity.

3. The Tableau mobile app

The Tableau mobile app is organized to make data access simple and fast using the following divisions: Favorites, Recents, Explore, Project pages, Workbook pages and Sheet Selector menu. The goal is to enable mobile users to spend less time looking for their dashboards and more time analyzing data. We will see how to optimize Tableau visualizations for mobile usage, and how to preview the results, in the screencasts.

4. Exporting

You can also export your visualizations outside of Tableau. You can export to images in PNG, bitmap or JPG format. You can also export to Power Point, or PDF. Finally, you can share your work on a private or public server. The options available and how to access them depend on the version of Tableau you're using, so we will show how to proceed in the screencasts.

5. Let's practice!

Now it's your turn to optimize visualizations for mobile use!
