1. Creating a cohesive report
Great job so far! You've loaded in your data, created relationships, written some DAX code, and built 3 report pages!
In this chapter, we will look to understand more about employee attrition at Atlas Labs. Finally, we'll end this case study by improving the overall visual design of our report.
2. Key insights uncovered
Whilst adding demographics data into our report, we've uncovered some new insights about our diversity and inclusion metrics.
The first insight is that the majority of employees hired at Atlas Labs are between the ages of 20 and 29 years old.
A surprising data point from the report development is that for active employees, women make up 2.7% of the organization.
Employees who identify as non-binary make up 8.5% of total employees.
Employees who identify as white have the highest average salary despite making up the majority of the organization.
Employees who identify as mixed or multiple ethnic groups have one of the lowest average salaries.
These insights are very useful and can help Atlas Labs review its hiring strategies to make improvements across the board.
An interesting question that comes from the insights we've uncovered is: "Does our demographics insights impact employee attrition?".
We'll be diving deeper into that question in this chapter.
3. Report development process
We've covered Step 1 in detail throughout this case study. For our first three exercises, we'll be diving deeper into attrition at Atlas Labs, so we will be working within step 1 for those exercises.
In our next three exercises, we'll be moving to step 2, where we will be working to improve our overall report design by focusing on titles, colors, fonts, layout, and adding a navigation.
4. The final product
In this chapter, we will be working towards having a report that provides insight to our stakeholders and has a clean, branded design.
Here is an example of the overview page you are working towards.
5. Let's practice!
Time to get back to the case study. Enjoy visualizing!
