Classifying correlation

Correlation coefficients describe the strength and direction of the relationship between two variables. The value ranges from:

• -1, a negative relationship where one variable increasing is associated with the other decreasing; to
• 1, a positive relationship where one variable increasing is associated with the other variable increasing.
