Identifying correlation between variables

Adding a trendline to a scatter plot is a great way to get a sense of the strength and direction of a relationship between variables.

An app has been provided showing scatter plots with a trendline for data about cities around the world. Each point represents a city, and you can select which variables appear on the x-axis (independent) and y-axis (dependent).

Set the X-axis to Annual Avg. Hours Worked and the Y-axis to Cost of Bottle of Water (£). Observe the trendline direction and the Pearson correlation coefficient displayed.

How would you describe this relationship?
