What we've learned
1. What we've learned in this course
In this video, I want to revisit what we have learned in this course.2. Concepts and methods
In this course, we took a look at what survival analysis is. We learned that the event of interest does not have to be death and that the same methods also work for all kinds of other duration times. We learned that duration times are always positive and censoring is almost always an issue, which is why we need specific methods for survival analyses. We also learned about the survival curve and how to interpret it. In terms of methods, we learned about three ways to estimate survival or other duration times. The Kaplan-Meier estimate as a simple method to compute survival curves for given data and the Weibull and the Cox model as models where the duration may depend on covariates.3. Focus
In this course, we focused on understanding what survival analysis is. We dug into survival curves as easily understandable measures for duration times. We learned how to estimate, visualize and interpret survival curves. The course was very hands-on and focused on the intuitive part. If you want to dig deeper into the topic you might want to learn about the mathematical details and the interpretation of model effect estimates next. Also, people often want to do inference, so learning about the computation of confidence intervals and tests would be a good next step as well. Survival analysis is a big and exciting field and there is lots more to learn. I hope I was able to give you a good foundation you can build on.4. Let's practice one more time!
I wish you all the best on all your upcoming survival analysis projects. Have fun! In the final exercises, we will revisit a couple of things so that you will remember everything you've learned in this course.Create Your Free Account
