Face the facts with dimensions

Fact and dimension tables are foundational to data models, as they work together to give the analyst greater detail than they can provide. Star schemas are very common in data modeling, so it's important you understand the fundamentals.

If you've ever done a VLOOKUP() in Excel, then you've actually created a relationship between two tables using a foreign key, much like making a relationship between a fact and dimension table.
