Wrap-Up and Microsoft's Fabric Certification

1. Wrap-Up and Microsoft's Fabric Certification

You've reached the end of the course. Well done! This course was designed to be an entry point in your journey toward passing Microsoft’s Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate certification, also known as DP-600. In this video, we’ll look at the topics covered in that exam.

2. Disclaimer

Before we get ahead of ourselves, it’s important to note that passing the certification exam will likely require deeper exploration into many of these topics. That being said, now that you have taken this course and have some hands-on experience with Fabric, many of the topics in the certification exam should be familiar to you. Even if you don’t plan on taking the exam, understanding these topics can help you grasp the essential skills a Fabric user might need.

3. Skill Group 1: Fabric Administration

The exam is divided into three main skill groups. The first skill group focuses on planning, implementing, and managing a data analytics solution – essentially, Fabric administration. This includes implementing access control for Fabric items like warehouses or lakehouses, setting up version control, and other topics related to Fabric administration. Rather than using Fabric tools directly, this section is about configuring Fabric for others. This section covers 25 to 30 percent of the exam.

4. Skill Group 2: Data Ingestion and Transformation

Next, the exam covers preparing and serving data. We covered quite a bit of these topics in this course. This section emphasizes data ingestion and transformation. How do you create objects in lakehouses and warehouses? How do you edit that data once it's in a database? How do you structure your storage solution to optimize the performance of your queries? How do you use the visual query editor to analyze data? This section covers 40 to 45 percent of the exam.

5. Skill Group 3: Semantic Models

The third section focuses on implementing and managing semantic models. This includes implementing relationships and star schemas for your semantic model, creating calculation groups, and improving performance in visual reports. These skills related to semantic models and Power BI cover 25 to 30 percent of the exam.

6. Microsoft Study Guide

It’s worth noting that the exact details of the skills required for the exam may change over time. As you prepare for the exam, we recommend looking at the official Microsoft Study Guide to see the exact skills you will be tested on, but these 3 skill areas are a good starting point.

7. Thank you!

As you wrap up this course, we'll ask you to complete an exercise to reflect on which skills you feel confident in and which areas you need to explore further. Congratulations on completing this course! You’ve laid a strong foundation for your journey with Microsoft Fabric, and we hope to see you in future Fabric courses!
