The Default Semantic Model

Fabric used to automatically create a default semantic model whenever you created a lakehouse. As of late 2025, Microsoft sunset this feature and no longer auto-generates default semantic models. Instead, you must explicitly create semantic models from your lakehouse tables. In this exercise, we will create a semantic model from a lakehouse and explore its settings. This mirrors the workflow you will use going forward.
