Amazon CloudWatch is the core observability service on AWS, but it bundles several distinct features that are easy to mix up. Logs store and let you search application log events, Metrics track numeric values over time, Alarms watch a metric and react when it crosses a threshold, and Dashboards pull graphs together onto one screen.
