Where the value lives
One database password needs a home, and the choice is yours. Four placements are on the table, and each one answers a different reader.
The table below shows all four, what each does at rest, and who can read the value back. The second table counts how many people are actually in each of those reader groups in this account today.
Three of the four placements encrypt the value at rest. Only one of those three hands it to a reader that most of your colleagues already are.
