Polishing and Presenting

1. Polishing and Presenting

Welcome back!

2. From Drafts to Polished Presentations

You've already seen how Copilot can help you build an entire slide deck, generate images, and give you design advice. Now, we'll focus on using Copilot to make smaller-scale edits to put the final touches on our presentation. We'll use Copilot for rewriting slide text for different audiences, and to prepare you for presentation delivery with personalized speaker notes. Let's dive in!

3. Inline Editing

Imagine you're working on a slide titled "Innovation and Sustainability Commitment". The content is factual, but it sounds a little flat. When we select a text box, notice that a small icon appears beside the text. Click it, and you'll see quick suggested changes like "Make professional" or "Condense." We can also provide our own instructions, for example: "Rewrite this paragraph in a more persuasive tone for stakeholders." Copilot thinks, and rewrites the text inside the slide itself - no copy-pasting required. If you like the change, click Keep it. If not, you can iterate with additional prompts, like "Make this sound more inspiring" or "Turn this into three concise bullet points."

4. Reviewing and Refining Tone

Each rewrite gives you a new perspective on your content. Sometimes the first result won't feel perfect, and that's okay. The power lies in the iteration: review, refine, and test again until the tone fits your audience. Copilot's doing the legwork here, but you're the brains of the operation. A persuasive slide for executives should sound very different from an internal project update. Copilot can adapt instantly - you just need to tell it how.

5. Generating Speaker Notes

Earlier, we mentioned that Copilot can't present for you, but it can do the next best thing: creating clear and engaging speaker notes to level-up your presentations. When you ask Copilot to create a full presentation, speaker notes are generated automatically for each slide. However, they may not always match your presentation style or tone. Using the Copilot sidecar, you can create and refine your own notes - then copy and paste them into the Notes pane. We open the Copilot sidecar and type: "Generate speaker notes for this slide in a friendly, and confident tone." Copilot reviews the slides content, and drafts a short script to accompany it. We can refine it further with: "Make it more concise and include a closing remark." We can even request jokes or quips if that's your style. Once we're happy, copy and paste the notes into the Notes pane under the slide.

6. Inline editing vs. Copilot sidecar

Over the last two lessons, we've used both inline editing and the Copilot sidecar to edit and refine our slides. To make the separation between these two Copilot tools, it's best to use in-line editing when you want to edit a specific component that's already present on the slide. The Copilot sidecar is best for creating new components or interpreting the existing slide deck. However, these tools are very flexible, and the best approaches are the ones that work.

7. Human-in-the-Loop Editing

Like with the other features we've covered, Copilot isn't replacing your judgment — it's amplifying it. You're still responsible for
