References everywhere!

In this chapter, you've explored the following concepts:

  • Relative references
  • Copying cells
  • Calculations with references
  • Absolute references

You'll put all of these concepts into practice to build a spreadsheet that highlights population metrics for each country for different growth rates. The cell references you'll use will ensure that the cell calculations will automatically update to any changes in the Growth Index.

Exercise instructions

  • In D2:D12, calculate the number of people the population will grow by (the Growth), assuming the growth index in B14.
  • In E2:E12, calculate the population density in people per square kilometer.
  • In F2:F12, calculate the Density Growth, which is the growth per square kilometer.
  • Change Growth Index to 2.00%, and watch as your spreadsheet automatically updates!
