From idea to output with Copilot
1. From idea to output with Copilot
Hi there. In this video, we'll see how Microsoft 365 Copilot helps us move smoothly between apps while keeping our content consistent and connected.2. Starting in the Copilot App
The Copilot App is your central hub for cross-file work. Unlike Copilot inside Word or Excel, which only looks at a single document, the Copilot App brings multiple files together in one workspace. Think of it like a meeting room where all your documents sit around the same table, Word reports, Excel data, and PowerPoint decks. Instead of jumping between apps, you can ask one question and get a combined answer.3. Starting in the Copilot App
For example, you might say: "Summarize the EcoGreen launch plan from the Word report and the Excel registrations file". Copilot blends both sources into one clear overview. This makes it especially useful when you're preparing a briefing, writing a proposal, or pulling insights across different formats. It saves time, reduces context-switching, and helps you tell a single, coherent story.4. Refining in Word
In Word, Copilot is like your built-in writing coach. Let's say you've drafted the benefits section of a report, but it feels a bit flat. You can highlight that section and ask, "Rewrite this in a more persuasive tone". Because the original Word file is uploaded and available, Copilot stays grounded in your content. Those facts remain accurate while the style becomes sharper and more engaging. Think of it as editing with guardrails. Copilot won't drift away from your source; it simply reshapes the words to better match your audience.5. Analyzing data in Excel
In Excel, open the EcoGreen_Registrations CSV file and ask Copilot: "Show me the top 3 regions by registrations and create a bar chart". Copilot instantly works for you; there are no formulas or manual chart setup. Just natural language. And here's the key point: you don't need to know every Excel function. With Copilot, you describe what you want, and it turns the data into insights and visuals you can use right away.6. Creating a presentation in PowerPoint
PowerPoint's Copilot can create a presentation from our existing Word report. I uploaded the EcoGreen launch Word file and asked, "Create a 5-slide presentation summarizing the launch plan". Then, from the Copilot App, I can ask: "What's in the presentation pack? Give me five key points". This lets us quickly check the content before presenting.7. Why this matters
Microsoft 365 Copilot connects your work. Whether you're writing, analyzing, or presenting, you can start in one app, refine in another, and check your work in the Copilot App, without breaking your flow.8. Let's practice!
Now it's your turn to practice. In the upcoming exercises, you'll use Copilot inside Excel to transform raw numbers into tables, charts, and insights.Create Your Free Account
