1. Congratulations!
Wow! You’ve done awesome. In this course you’ve covered the basics for an entire semester! Along the way you learned about different types of descriptive stats. For example, now you know the different averages, quartiles and even more complex descriptive statistics such as variance and standard deviation.
Then you moved to constructing and interpreting visualizations that statisticians use every day. You can create histograms, bar charts and scatterplots. More importantly you learned how descriptive stats are portrayed in these visualizations. Your visuals can even demonstrate variable relationships with trend lines and correlation pattern recognition.
From there you added to your statistical knowledge learning about hypothesis testing. You used 3 popular test statistics, the t, z and chi squared tests. Simply remember three things to guide your hypothesis testing. First, the NULL hypothesis is the status quo, or accepted fact. Second, all three of these tests will give you a p-value or probability. Lastly, you REJECT the NULL hypothesis when the p-value is usually less than 0.05.
You closed out this course applying these concepts to real dating profile data. In the case you learned how these mathematical concepts, visuals and hypothesis tests provide real insight and information to practitioners.
That’s a lot of information in a short amount of time. Plus you learned all the Sheets formulas in addition to these concepts. Good for you! Thanks for taking the course, I hope you enjoyed it.
