Comparing modern and classic controls
Power Apps ships two generations of controls: classic, the older set that canvas apps have long used, and modern, the newer set built on Microsoft's Fluent 2 design system. This course uses modern throughout.
The image shows the same sign-in form rendered with both sets. Three differences to notice:
- Classic outlines every field with a heavy border; modern uses a flat fill and almost no visible edge.
- Classic renders Sign in and Cancel identically; modern marks Sign in as the primary action and leaves Cancel secondary.
- Classic puts the dropdown chevron in a filled block; modern tucks it inside the field.
Compare the two panels, then answer: which statement about these two control sets is correct?
