Welcome to this introduction to DataLab! I’m Jason, a product lead here at DataCamp, but I used to be an analyst in companies like PayPal & T-Mobile, where I developed my analytic skills. In today’s world, data is everywhere, and it has never been more important to be able to explore, analyze, and share insights effectively. That’s where DataLab comes in.

There are several products that all leverage this notebook paradigm, you might be familiar with DataLab, the focus of this course, or the popular open source Jupyter notebooks, as well as Databricks Notebooks.

So, where does DataLab shine? It’s perfect for tasks like creating ad-hoc reports, accessing and exploring data in a database, in-depth data analysis and prototyping machine learning workflows. However, not every task is a good fit.
