Share & collaborate student's workflow
1. Share & collaborate student's workflow
Now that the data transformation workflow is ready let's understand how to share it and collaborate with other users. First, look at the output table; it shows the data sorted by student grades. Let's add some visual aspects to this workflow. Using a bar chart, the idea is to visualize the number of students in each grade category. In the node dialog, select the category dimension as the grade. Next, in the aggregation section, select the occurrence count. Now execute the node and see that the generated bar chart shows students' distribution across grade categories. We've covered just one visualization node, but in the upcoming data visualization course, you'll learn about many more nodes in detail. Before sharing the workflow, let's add some useful details. Open the description panel at the top left corner. Click on the pen icon to edit the details. Enter the description of the workflow in the box provided. Further, add any external resources, such as useful links. Lastly, tags can be added to the workflow. Save the details entered; now, the workflow description panel shows all the relevant details you added. Next, let's explore how to create components before sharing them. We will create a component by encapsulating the sorter and bar chart node. Select both these nodes and right-click. In the options, select Create Component. This creates a component which can be seen as a gray block. Next, name the component. When you open the component, it shows the encapsulated nodes. Further, you can add a configuration dialog to the component where users can select their choices. To look at the interactive view generated by the component, click on the last icon on the top of the component. This opens the bar chart view that is produced by the bar chart node inside the component. Furthermore, open the description panel and add component details. You can also select the icon type of the component from the choices provided. Now that the workflow and the component are ready let's share them on the KNIME Community Hub. Click on the space explorer, and choose the KNIME Community Hub from the available options. It will direct you to the web browser, where you will be asked to create a KNIME Community Hub account. If you already have one, you can sign in. Once you are signed in, right-click on the component and click share. Select the location in your hub account where you want to share. To view the shared component, go to the KNIME Community Hub via a web browser and search for the name you specified earlier. The community can now use this to learn, build, or modify new workflows. It's a great way to collaborate! Now that you have learned how to share workflows and components, let's do some exercises. Note that, to keep things simple, we have not included the component sharing as an exercise. If you intend to practice that, you can use your personal computer and connect with your KNIME Community Hub account and share them.2. Let's practice!
