Statistics: true of false

So far, you've seen multiple ways of describing a variable or a distribution. Before you dive into some Tableau exercises, let's make sure you understand the following concepts.

Statistic Description
Count number of observations
Median midpoint of your observations
Average mean value of your observations
Min/Max lowest and highest value
Quartile/IQR 25th and 75th percentile / spread of the 50% of your middlemost observations
Modality/Mode number of modes / most occurring value
Skewness (a)symmetry of the distribution
Kurtosis distribution of extreme values
Variance squared deviation from the mean
Standard Deviation square root of the variance, same unit as variable
Population collection of all items of interest
Sample part of the population, the actual available data
