1. Data-driven decision making
In this video, we'll explore powerful features that take your data analysis beyond reports. We'll first delve into a semantic model for self-service report and then how to create an App.
First, let’s get inside the workspace where you’ll see an option to create an App. Think of it as a one-stop shop for all things related to a specific audience or domain.
Setting up an App is not just limited to the reports. We can add multiple group of audiences for different sets of users by clicking on these as well as add new reports and dashboards in it. Let's build a captivating narrative within the App. This is where we can create dashboards to summarize major digital marketing KPIs. We can seamlessly integrate visuals from different reports, showcasing sessions by date or visitor type.
Observe how these elements come together, painting a complete picture. We can drill down into each chart for granular detail. So, if you click on any of these visuals, you’ll move to the detailed report and this empowers stakeholders to grasp the overarching trends and delve into specific areas of interest as needed.
Now, let’s take a scenario on how you can initiate a data analysis directly from a Power BI semantic model. Click on the ellipses of the Semantic model here and select Create Report from Scratch. You can select any required field from here and create a visual. So, you can select a bar chart and add sessions on the values and view it by date. Once you are done with your report, you can save it in your workspace and even in the app.
Consider this Marketing Performance App with a dashboard and multiple reports that visualize key metrics and trigger alerts for declining website traffic. This empowers everyone from marketing specialists and executives – to collaborate effectively, analyze data seamlessly, and react to critical situations – all within Power BI Service.
Let’s practice our knowledge on a few exercises to get a good hold of it.
