Copilot for Microsoft Outlook and Teams

1. Copilot for Microsoft Outlook and Teams

Welcome back! The rest of the course will focus on Microsoft 365 Copilot, which we'll refer to as Copilot.

2. Copilot in Outlook and Teams

With Copilot in Outlook, we can summarize email threads, draft emails, and use a coaching feature. With Copilot in Teams, we can catch up on chats and use the Copilot chat to stay updated on work.

3. Summarize email threads

To start using Copilot in Outlook, open an email thread, click on the latest response, and select "Summary by Copilot". Copilot will provide a concise overview of the conversation that highlights key points, with citations linking directly to relevant emails, saving us the time and effort of scrolling through the entire thread.

4. Draft emails

Copilot can also assist with drafting emails. It provides suggestions that help communicate our message in different lengths and tones, depending on our needs. Click "New Email" to see the

or click the Copilot icon. We tell Copilot what to include, and it generates a draft. We can use it as is or give further instructions to refine and adjust it.

7. Reply to emails

When reviewing an email, we might question its tone, flow, or whether it conveys our intended message. This is where Copilot's coaching feature can help. Let's say we've written a reply to a colleague that feels too casual or unclear. We can click the Copilot icon

and choose among various options. With 'Coaching by Copilot' for instance, we can get suggestions on tone, sentiment, and clarity. Copilot may suggest that the tone is too formal or that certain sentences could be simplified for clarity. We can use this feedback to refine the email before sending it.

9. Catch up with chats

Let's discuss how Copilot can assist us with Teams to manage chats and channel threads.

10. Catch up with chats

The Copilot icon is located in the chat window where your contacts appear. Click the icon, and Copilot will be ready to assist.

11. Catch up with chats

We can also use Copilot within existing chats: for example, by asking to summarize the latest messages.

12. Catch up with chats

By clicking on the citations, we can jump directly to a specific message, to inspect the source.

13. Copilot for Teams meetings

For recorded meetings, Copilot can help us catch up and provide a summary of the action items missed if we joined late or miss a meeting.

14. Messaging Copilot

Copilot in Teams enables us to ask questions across chats, and stay updated on team work.

15. Messaging Copilot

It is conveniently located as the first icon.

16. Messaging Copilot

If we'd like a summary of activities from a particular colleague across conversations, we can prompt Copilot to find the messages our colleague sent. Within seconds, Copilot finds the conversations, provides a brief description, and offers a direct link, saving us the time and effort of manually filtering and searching.
