Comparing two means for paired samples

So far, we have worked with proportions of dependent samples. However, in many cases our data will consist of continuous measurements that have been taken at different time slots. An example when we would do this is if we would want to know the effectiveness of a diet on people's weight.

Our research question here is whether the diet that we have invented leads to a reduction in weight. As such our research question is directional. What would be a good set of hypotheses?
